SHMS is officially a Heart Safe School through Arkansas Project ADAM, and that’s a big deal. This means our campus is trained, prepared, and committed to keeping our students and staff safe. A huge thank you to Nurse Tuckey, our incredible school nurse, for taking the lead and making this happen. We’re also grateful to @Arkansas Children’s Hospital for their help, guidance, and support along the way. Way to go, SHMS Bears 🐻💙 #HeartSafeSchool #SHMSProud #BearsCare #ProjectADAM

🎻✨ Making History at SHMS with Orchestra ✨🎻

This one is extra special. SHMS just hosted our first ever orchestra, and what an incredible moment it was. Seeing our students take the stage, play with confidence, and support one another was something we will never forget. Orchestra challenges students to listen closely, work as a team, and grow through practice, and these kids rose to the occasion.

A huge shoutout to Mr. Gabriel Bruce for launching this program and guiding our students every step of the way. Starting something brand new takes vision, patience, and a lot of heart, and he has already built something truly special.

We are so proud of our orchestra students for making history at SHMS and setting the tone for what’s to come. This is just the beginning, Bears, and the future sounds amazing. 🎶🐻💙

🎺🔥 Big Sound. Big Pride. SHMS Band! 🔥🎺

Our 6th and 7th grade band students absolutely showed up for their winter concert. The focus, teamwork, and confidence on that stage were impressive, especially knowing how much growth it takes to get there. Band teaches students how to listen, work together, and stick with something that isn’t always easy, and it paid off in a BIG way.

Huge shoutout to Ms. Smith, Ms. Wilson, and Ms. Walla for the dedication, patience, and passion they bring every single day. They build strong musicians while also building confidence, discipline, and pride in their students.

We are so proud of our band kids and thankful for a program that helps students grow both on and off the stage. Way to bring the sound, Bears! 🐻🎶

This weekend SHMS EAST and AVID students chose to give their time back to the community, and that says a lot. 💙 These students rolled up their sleeves and worked hard raking leaves at Gibson Memorial Cemetery next to Cato Elementary as part of a larger EAST project.

This is what SHMS pride and leadership look like. Showing up. Serving others. Taking care of our community. We are incredibly proud of our students for choosing service and making a real impact. Way to represent SHMS so well!

🎶💙 Voices That Shine at SHMS 💙🎶

WOW. Our winter concert was full of confidence, talent, and some serious goosebump moments. These students didn’t just sing, they performed. Choir gives our kids a place to be brave, work together, and feel proud of what they’ve accomplished, and it showed in every song.

Huge shoutout to Mr. McInerney for bringing the energy, encouragement, and high expectations that help our students grow. He builds confident performers and a choir family that truly supports one another.

We are so proud of our choir kids and grateful for a program that builds confidence, teamwork, and joy through music. Keep shining, Bears. You made SHMS proud! 🎤🐻💙

Our SHMS FBLA students showed what the season is really about. 💙🎄 Our FBLA group helped collect toys across campus, and on Friday evening our officer team and advisors had the honor of delivering them to Arkansas Children’s Hospital during their annual Festival of Stars. Seeing our students give their time and hearts to bring a little joy to children and families during the holidays was something special. We are so proud of their leadership, generosity, and commitment to serving others. Way to represent SHMS with kindness and Christmas spirit. 🎁✨ #SHMS #SHMSFBLA #GivingBack #SeasonOfGiving #ChristmasSpirit #StudentLeaders #ServiceAboveSelf #ProudToBeSHMS #MakingADifference

🎓✨ Another huge SHMS celebration! ✨🎓

Please help us congratulate Mr. Robert Watson on earning his Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction – Administration! This is a major accomplishment and one that speaks directly to his commitment to growth and leadership.

Mr. Watson pursued this degree to deepen his understanding of effective teaching and school leadership, with the goal of making a real impact on both student learning and teacher development. If you’ve worked with him, you already see those leadership qualities in action every day.

This is what lifelong learning looks like. This is what investing in kids and colleagues looks like. The SHMS family is incredibly proud of you and excited for what’s ahead. Congratulations, Mr. Watson! 💙👏📚

🎓🔥 SHMS is celebrating BIG today! 🔥🎓

Please help us congratulate Ms. Latasha Moore, our amazing Spanish teacher, on earning her Master of Arts in Spanish! This is an incredible accomplishment and a true testament to her dedication to her craft and her students.

Ms. Moore shared that she began this journey with the goal of becoming a Spanish professor at the collegiate level and kept running into doors that wouldn’t open without a master’s degree. Instead of letting that stop her, she pushed forward and did the work. That determination, grit, and love for learning is exactly what we hope to model for our students every single day.

Ms. Moore brings passion, culture, and high expectations into her classroom, and this achievement only adds to the impact she already makes at SHMS. We are so proud to celebrate another lifelong learner. Way to go, Ms. Moore! 💙👏📚

🎓👏 Huge congratulations to Mr. James on graduating from University of Central Arkansas and officially becoming a teacher! We were lucky to have Mr. James as a 6th grade math intern at SHMS, and he truly left his mark. He jumped right in, built great relationships with students, and showed a genuine passion for teaching and learning. This is exactly why we love giving back to and supporting upcoming educators. Watching them grow into confident, capable teachers is one of the best parts of what we do. The future classroom is in great hands, Mr. James. We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see all the amazing things you’ll accomplish! 🍎📐💙
