This amazing $1,000 scholarship was awarded to two of our SHMS AVID Tutors, and we could not be more proud of them! These students have worked hard, shown leadership, supported their peers, and represented what it means to be an SHMS Bear.

We are beyond thankful for community partners like Baldwin & Shell and the SHMS PTSA who continue to pour into our students and help make opportunities like this possible. Your support truly makes a difference, and our students feel it!

Congratulations to our SHMS Teacher of the Year, Ms. Emily Beirne! 💙🐻

“As soon as I stepped foot in SHMS, I knew it was a community I wanted to be a part of.” That says so much about who Ms. Beirne is and the heart she brings to our school every single day.

Ms. Beirne describes SHMS with one of our GRRRR words, resilient, and she lives that out daily in her classroom. She believes in students, pushes them to grow, and helps them see the progress they are making along the way.

Teaching was a career shift for Ms. Beirne, but it is clear she found exactly where she is meant to be. She shared that the most rewarding parts of teaching are seeing “the lightbulb go off” when students finally understand a skill, hearing their ideas and discussions, and watching their confidence grow.

More than anything, she hopes her students leave her classroom proud of the progress they have made, and we can confidently say she gives them every reason to be proud.

Congratulations to our SHMS Support Staff of the Year, Ms. Carolyn Siegfried! 💙🐻

Ms. Siegfried has dedicated 16 years to education and truly has a heart for students and families. She believes attendance is about so much more than tracking who is absent. It’s about noticing patterns, building relationships, and helping support families when they may be going through a difficult time.

She shared that SHMS is an “empowering” place, and we couldn’t agree more. Every single day, she helps make our school welcoming, supportive, and caring for everyone who walks through the doors.

School may be out – but school meals are still in! Children in the PCSSD community won't go hungry this summer and will have the opportunity to eat for free, thanks to PCSSD and its foodservice partner, Chartwells K12. This summer, we will be preparing meal packs for breakfast & lunch for anyone 18 years or younger in the community. The PCCSD summer meal program does not require registration or identification, and children do not have to attend PCSSD schools to receive the meals. Just show up at the pickup sites on distribution days from 7:00-10:00 a.m., and the meals will be loaded into your vehicle. For more details, see the attached image. #ServeAll #PCSSDproud

This is an important meeting as we begin taking officer nominations for next school year and work to keep our PTSA active and growing. Parent involvement makes a huge difference for our students, staff, and school community, and we would love to have more families involved!
