Congratulations to our SHMS Support Staff of the Year, Ms. Carolyn Siegfried! 💙🐻

Ms. Siegfried has dedicated 16 years to education and truly has a heart for students and families. She believes attendance is about so much more than tracking who is absent. It’s about noticing patterns, building relationships, and helping support families when they may be going through a difficult time.

She shared that SHMS is an “empowering” place, and we couldn’t agree more. Every single day, she helps make our school welcoming, supportive, and caring for everyone who walks through the doors.

Ms. Siegfried says she feels appreciated, valued, and proud to be part of the SHMS family, and we are just as proud to have her here. Thank you for your kindness, selflessness, and the difference you make in the lives of our students and staff every day.

We love you, Ms. Siegfried, and SHMS is better because of you! 💙

School may be out – but school meals are still in! Children in the PCSSD community won't go hungry this summer and will have the opportunity to eat for free, thanks to PCSSD and its foodservice partner, Chartwells K12. This summer, we will be preparing meal packs for breakfast & lunch for anyone 18 years or younger in the community. The PCCSD summer meal program does not require registration or identification, and children do not have to attend PCSSD schools to receive the meals. Just show up at the pickup sites on distribution days from 7:00-10:00 a.m., and the meals will be loaded into your vehicle. For more details, see the attached image. #ServeAll #PCSSDproud

A colorful flyer titled “Summer Meals” announces free breakfast and lunch meal packs for children under 18. It lists two pickup locations—Wilbur D. Mills University Studies High School and Cato Elementary School—and states that meals are distributed on Thursdays from June 4 to July 30 between 7:00–10:00am, with one Wednesday distribution due to a holiday. The flyer notes that each pack includes 10 meals, no registration or ID is required, and children do not have to attend PCSSD. The design includes bright summer graphics such as sunglasses, fruit slices, flip‑flops, and a sun, along with the Chartwells and PCSSD logos.

Happy Birthday to Mr. Stephens! 🎉💙

SHMS Field Day is tomorrow and we are so excited!

A few quick reminders to help everyone have a fun and safe day:

• Students may want to bring a towel and a change of clothes since some activities involve water.
• All clothing worn during Field Day must still follow school dress code guidelines.
• Food trucks and concession items will be available for students who would like to purchase something, but students do not need money to have a great time and participate in Field Day activities.

Parents are welcome to attend ONLY if they are a registered PCSSD volunteer. Please make sure you have your volunteer card/ID ready when checking in through the front office.

Thank you for helping us make Field Day a great experience for our students! We can’t wait for a fun day together!

The PCSSD School Board recognized the Sylvan Hills Middle School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students who qualified for FBLA Nationals. 🐻

During the May board meeting, FBLA announced its state‑winning projects, explained what it takes to compete at the national level, and asked for support to help secure the $1,600 per person their team and chaperones need to travel to the competition this summer. Their clarity and confidence at the podium matched the work that earned them three state titles.

Happy Principal’s Day to the best around—Mr. Hudgeons 💙🐻

He’s not the kind of principal who stays behind a desk. He’s in classrooms, talking with kids, jumping into lessons, and making sure every student feels seen and valued.

He started his career as a teacher and coach, and you can still see that in everything he does—encouraging, guiding, and showing up for people every single day.

He challenges us to grow, but always has our back. He believes in his teachers, supports us, and creates a place where both students and staff can do their best.

SHMS is better because of him. No question!!

Drop a comment and help us celebrate him—share a kind word or a favorite moment 💙🐻
