Based on the latest weather predictions, the winter storm is expected to move into our area Friday evening; therefore, PCSSD will operate on a regular schedule for Friday, January 23. All district after-school activities will not be held. A decision regarding school operations for Monday, January 26, will be made over the weekend. Huge SHMS shoutout to Tom Brannon, Chief Meteorologist at THV11, for coming out to talk weather with our 6th grade science students! 🌦️🌪️

Our students just wrapped up their weather unit, so hearing from a real meteorologist was the perfect way to bring everything together. Tom did an awesome job breaking down how forecasting works, sharing real-life experiences, and getting kids excited about science and weather. The forecast? Curious minds and great questions.

We’re so grateful for the time, energy, and enthusiasm he shared with our students. Experiences like this make learning stick and help students see how classroom lessons connect to real careers and real life.

SHMS is officially a Heart Safe School through Arkansas Project ADAM, and that’s a big deal. This means our campus is trained, prepared, and committed to keeping our students and staff safe. 🎻✨ Making History at SHMS with Orchestra ✨🎻

This one is extra special. SHMS just hosted our first ever orchestra, and what an incredible moment it was. Seeing our students take the stage, play with confidence, and support one another was something we will never forget. Orchestra challenges students to listen closely, work as a team, and grow through practice, and these kids rose to the occasion.

A huge shoutout to Mr. Gabriel Bruce for launching this program and guiding our students every step of the way. Starting something brand new takes vision, patience, and a lot of heart, and he has already built something truly special.

🎺🔥 Big Sound. Big Pride. SHMS Band! 🔥🎺

Our 6th and 7th grade band students absolutely showed up for their winter concert. The focus, teamwork, and confidence on that stage were impressive, especially knowing how much growth it takes to get there. Band teaches students how to listen, work together, and stick with something that isn’t always easy, and it paid off in a BIG way.

Huge shoutout to Ms. Smith, Ms. Wilson, and Ms. Walla for the dedication, patience, and passion they bring every single day. They build strong musicians while also building confidence, discipline, and pride in their students.

We are so proud of our band kids and thankful for a program that helps students grow both on and off the stage. Way to bring the sound, Bears! 🐻🎶
