STUDENT PARTICIPATION

Teens up to the age of 18 are needed to volunteer for the program. Each teen must attend orientation and training, and agree to participate for a full school year. Volunteers are asked to attend Teen Court hearings as needed. Please contact the Office of Equity and Pupil Services for further information.

Students enrolled in the Juvenile Justice class at their corresponding high school will be assigned to roles to participate in Teen Court. Each teen must attend orientation and training, and agree to participate for a full school year.

SANCTIONS

  • Community Service: PCSSD teen court will assign community service to a majority (if not all) respondents. Based on offense, or other criteria, a variety of community service opportunities will be available. Hours of community service will be assigned by the teen court on a case by case basis.

  • Writing Assignments: PCSSD teen court will include sanctions that ask respondents to reflect on their behavior and write about it, through letters of apology or essays.

  • Workshops/Classes: PCSSD teen court may assign respondents to attend workshops or classes on topics such as conflict resolution, substance possession and or use, decision-making, and various life skills.

ATTIRE

  1. No bare feet, flip-flops, shower shoes or house slippers.

  2. No halter tops, sheer blouses, half shirts, tank tops, or muscle shirts.

  3. No clothing with inappropriate sayings, logos or pictures.

  4. No beachwear or shorts of any kind.

  5. No hats, caps, hair curlers or head covering of any kind.

  6. No costumes or articles of clothing that could be considered night club attire.

  7. No sunglasses.

  8. No sagging.
