Last month, Honorable Jaylen Smith, Mayor of Earle, Arkansas, encouraged and inspired Mills Middle School scholars and community as the speaker for the 8th grade promotion ceremony. Mayor Smith spoke of overcoming a learning disability and shared how he and some friends positioned themselves to take office. He is the youngest black mayor elected in the U.S. and one of the youngest mayors ever elected in our country. Mayor Smith is now a "comet" and we look forward to him returning to visit with our scholars.
