🦋Our Stingers in Spanish class learned about the life cycle of the Monarch Butterfly, which symbolizes the souls of loved ones returning during Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), celebrated on November 1st and 2nd.
Through this lesson, students reflected on how life and death are both part of a natural and spiritual cycle.
As part of their cultural exploration, students helped set up a traditional Ofrenda (altar) to honor those who have passed away. The altar has seven to eight levels, and each carries a deep symbolic meaning passed down from our ancestors:
Level 1: Represents the sky or the divine — dedicated to God or a higher power.
Level 2: Honors the souls of the faithful who have passed.
Level 3: Dedicated to the saints and spiritual guides.
Level 4: Represents the world of the living — offerings like food, flowers, and candles are placed here.
Level 5: Reminds us of our ancestors and family traditions.
Level 6: Holds personal items or photographs of departed loved ones.
Level 7: Symbolizes the end of the journey — the resting place for souls who have completed the cycle of life.
The Ofrenda represents the reunion between the living and the dead, reminding us that love continues beyond life.
Great work, scholars and Dr. Franco! Go Stingers!!!

Introduction to Business and Introduction to Computer Science was invited to participate in Plastic Ingenuity's observance of a month dedicated to careers in manufacturing. They are the largest custom thermoforming company in North America. They specialize in manufacturing plastic packaging for the food, healthcare, and retail industries. We were able to see them converting new and recycled material into sheets of plastic that were then formed into containers for lettuce and packaging for wet cat food and lunchable-type sectioned containers. It was a great field trip and the students learned so much! Go Stingers!!!
