and all through the halls,
students prepped their shirts
to answer future calls. 🎓
👕Tomorrow, if your school doesn't already have spirit day, wear AVID with a college or career shirt to match the ambition you put into education, just like Joe T. Robinson High School and Sherwood Elementary last week!📚 #AVID #PCSSDproud #ServeAll

Items most needed: Canned and dried food, baby food and formula as well as nutritious snacks. We will accept donations from now until Dec. 19th. The Kindergarten-2nd and 3rd-5th grade class that brings the most food items will win an ice cream party in January!

The most wonderful time of the year is here, and we’re ready to deck the halls, rock the socks, and sleigh the holiday spirit! Over the next few weeks, we’ll be turning CHES into a winter wonderland—so grab your Grinchy greens, candy-cane stripes, and snowman-worthy blues.
Whether you’re twinning with a turtle dove, building a snowman out of style points, or lighting up the halls like a string of Christmas lights, there’s a day for every festive flair. Don’t forget to show off your Santa’s helper skills —the more merry, the better! Check out the flyer for dress up day details.

👕 AVID Wednesday Spotlight: College Campus Visits! 🎓
This week, we are recognizing AVID scholars who are stepping beyond the classroom and onto real university campuses — experiencing college life firsthand.
These visits give our students a glimpse of what their futures can look like. They can learn about majors, scholarships, and campus traditions, and leave inspired to keep working toward their goals.
Don’t forget to show your support for college and career readiness across PCSSD by wearing an AVID shirt and sharing your past or preparing for your future. #PCSSDproud #AVID #ServeAll

If you would like to be included in our Veteran’s Day slideshow presentation, please email your photos to Ms. Soils at ksoils9310@pcssd.org
We look forward to celebrating and honoring our Veterans together!

This week, we’re spotlighting Mrs. Stephanie DeWitt’s kindergarten class at William Jefferson Clinton Elementary. Students recently completed an AVID jigsaw activity on story elements. Each group became “experts” on characters, setting, beginning, middle, or end, and then taught their classmates what they learned.
“It’s been wonderful watching them collaborate, think critically, and deepen their understanding of how stories work! Way to go, scholars,” Mrs. DeWitt shared.
Don’t forget to wear your AVID shirts tomorrow, celebrate student success, and keep building those college and career ready skills!
