chelsea flowers presentation

SHERWOOD - The Sylvan Hills High Survey of Business class heard from someone close to home to encourage them to think outside the box when it comes to internships and job opportunities in high school.

Business marketing teacher Lawanna Harris brought her daughter, Chelsea Flowers, to meet with her students virtually as a guest speaker in the class. Ms. Harris and her daughter discussed how they looked for internships and science camps with stipends (funding). She discussed how she started in 8th grade and then how she eventually ran the UAMS Diversity Equity Pupils Summer Program for two years. Students were able to talk to her about information for summer internships that related to science, human resources, music, and creative writing.

Flowers also helped students revise their resumes and discuss tips for interviewing.

Flowers is a Hendrix College graduate and has currently committed to the UAMS Pharmacy school.
